polar plunge

My brother in law plunges into the frigid Atlantic Ocean with the Polar Bear Plungers.
They do it as a fund raiser for Special Olympics in New Jersey.
I believe that the water was 37 degrees this year. I think the air temp was 47. It was chilly.
They have to run in and submerge themselves into the icy waters.
brrrr. not for the faint of heart.

There were 40,000 people there.
I have decided that I am not a fan of being in the middle of 40,000 people.
Anyway, I got a few shots that day & I am glad we went to support him.

The first shot is of one of the United States Coast Guards boats.
(my Dad was in the Coast Guard)

My Brother in law and his youngest son.
after jumping in.

Brother in law and his wife... my sister.

I have no idea who this man was I just liked that he was waving the Red, White and Blue.

Our 3 girls and my 2 nieces.

My Brother in law and his 2 sons.

I loved this vintage Chevy... parked on the beach.

I love this picture of my oldest.
She is just who she is.

Emily & Maddie with her "Boyfriend" Dom.
Good Grief... why must they grow up??

the end.

burlap & fabric

I believe I may be addicted....

Burlap and Fabric Rosettes how sweet!

I was inspired by the Tatertots and Jello wreath.

I am in Love.

I purchased a green foam wreath at Michael's with my 40% off coupon.

I think it cost about four bucks.

I had left over jelly roll strips from a quilt. (a project that I still have yet to complete)

Left over burlap from the 2 yards I purchased for my lampshade.

Some Hot Glue and several burned fingers later... Voila.

Super cute.

I  decided the other day, as soon as it starts to get a little warm out I am going to paint the shutters

and the front door a deep navy blue.

My wreath is going to look lovely on it.

Lost in crafting...

I  have spent the past week crafting like a crazy person, making dolls, wreaths, fabric buntings, decorating and even woke up one morning and decided I hated the downstairs powder room... so I began to paint it. So I have some cool before and after pics as well. (my husband think I have officially lost my mind....) I even organized all my vintage notions... refer to above photo....

Lots of crafting means lots of post. So this coming week will be filled with a new post everyday.

I have one sick husband sinus infection and spent I took the kids to the beach today to watch my brother in law jumping into the Atlantic Ocean... (frigid Atlantic, we live in NJ)
Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

That's all folks.

Birthdays

For Sara's 12th birthday, I knew that I wanted to make her a new lunch bag.

I found the sweetest pattern on

I received the fabric and the pattern in the mail today.

I began to sew like a crazy person.

Thank goodness for my beloved sister.

She had her at her house for the day.

I finished.

Just in time for her to open it before she goes to school in the morning.

By the way have I mentioned

 I

 L*O*V*E

Love love love.

For the inside I used the

 Heather Bailey Laminated Cotton.

and here is my little Bean and I when she was only about a year.

 Man she is cute.

Makes me cry thinking how fast time is flying by.

And when I look at how wrinkle free my skin was back then.... lol

The End.

Dollie & Flannel Pants...

Wow that was a creative title...

I found the cutest blog.... with the cutest little doll. 60 piggies.

I loved making her ( I have to adjust the large size of her face)

Maddie loved her and named her Sara.. then a second later named her Maddie.

She told me she needs friends.

So, these just might be the worst pictures I have ever taken in my life...

I have one wicked wicked headache.... YAY ME.

Maddie, with her crazy bed head hair.
Oh and those are the flannel pants

that my child will not remove from her body!

I made them last week  with this tutorial,

from My Cotton Creations. As my

Child was not cooperating This is about as good as it gets.

Rustic chic

I have found the wonders of  Burlap.

Yes, it is a stinky natural cloth made from jute.

I tried to wash the stink out of it in my washer... It sheds.

(note to self don't wash burlap in your washing machine)

anyway, I created a lampshade... with some rolled flowers (which I made from a drop cloth)

I like it. It is  " rustic chic"

Cheap Cheap.

Can it be true Fabric that is a chalkboard????

Yes it is true. Chalk cloth Fabric. Very Cool! I have been sewing up some today for 2 of the cutest

toddlers I know... (Jen, If you are reading this I have something for Aubrey..)

It was fast and easy but I recommend if you are going to do any sewing on the laminated cotton or chalk

cloth that you use your walking foot.

the lovely fabric is Heather Bailey's Nicey Jane laminated Cotton.. Ahhh I loved working with this.

I wish I had purchased more.

My Husband suggested a mitt eraser that was attached.

(Good thinkin')

It was Simple to make these.

                                                                   The End.

He is the Coolest! Best! Most Loving Dad I know....

He was awarded student of the year at Tae Kwon Doe.

(He just got his black belt...)

He needed a 8 x 10 with his large trophy... hehe

(My Mom won't let him display it in the china cabinet...)

anyway, he knows this photographer... (me)

He came over so I could take a few shots of him.... (& his LARGE trophy)

Maddie wanted to be in all the shots with her "Papa"

Melts my heart!

Love You Dad.... You are my Hero.

Taking down the Christmas Wreath....

I thought I better take down the Christmas Wreath since it is February.... (How did that happen?)

I had nothing to put up for February... the door needed something.

I had seen a burlap heart wreath with rosettes and I thought that was

really pretty.

So I  started to pull things out and this is what I came up with.

A little muslin, some cardboard, hot glue

& my roses that I made last summer.

L-O-V-E it.

The End.

The Adventure's of Amy & Jen Pioneer Woman

As the next adventure unfolds....

Well we did it. (We meaning Jen and I) ((man I am going to miss her....  sad sad sad.)) But we will have to keep having fun until June until (dare I say it) the move to Georgia comes true. (darn that nervy husband of hers having to be a Dr...) Anyway this is not a sad post. No, this is a post about  wonderful memory that we made together this week.

So in the midst of the weather men predicting the worst ice storm of the century (dramatic flare) Jen and I trekked into the city to meet our beloved Pioneer Woman, Ree Drumond.  SO we hopped on the train.. and away we went.  Good thing I had Jen along, She is a pro at hopping trains and such. I am a novas. Funny, being that I have lived no more then 20 miles from Manhattan my entire life. She maneuvered with such pen-ache. Like she has lived in the city all her life. At one point in our journey she told to move along... (going to slow) I was taking it all in... oh well.

We arrived at the Barnes and Noble in Union Square. We went up to the 4th floor and saw that we could actually sit in the front row, right next to her Dad, his wife and her sister! WOW. So cool. Anyway, she was really lovely & funny and you just wanted to go hangout with her and talk about kids, cooking and her cattle ranch!

It was really fun. I was really nervous. Which is not really like me. Strange, I guess it is just that I admire who she is as a woman, a mother and a wife.

And there you have it that was our little New York adventure. Oh Yeah and we ate Moe's burritos next to some homeless people in Penn Station and some girl talking on her phone who sounded like she was in a time warp from the 80's... (as if!)

So Much Fun and I am so glad that I got to experience that with Jen.

the end.

here she is Ree laughing at something witty I was saying.... LOL not really.

The Book.

Jen holding The Book.

Ree answering some questions. She was wearing the Frye Boots..... ahhhh

Being silly....

I need to clean my lens better. There is a smudge. (I can hear you telling me Jen, maybe if you used your lens cover.... hehehe)

might be the worst shot of me ever. Jen looks darling and Ree looks stunning. I look as if I just rolled out of bed. LOL

Jen guiding me thru the city!
