Another Time

I am not sure where you are, but it is brrrr freezing here.

So I am sitting here drinking my morning Joe and imagining I was here ( in the pictures below)
It happens to be in Williamsburg, VA. Colonial Williamsburg is soooooo lovely. I adore it. It is a walk back in time. I have always loved historical places. I guess I always thought I was born in the wrong era. Anyway, I thought I would share some of my favorite photos from our journey to a different time.

Our beautiful kids

Here is our oldest, Emily Elizabeth. She has toughness about her, yet knows just how to make me laugh and smile.

Here is our middle baby, Sara Lynne. I know that is odd "Baby" but she was my baby for 8 years before Maddie came. So to me she will always be my special baby. The one who just makes everything all right. The one who can hug you and make your heart skip a beat.

And last but far from least, our teeny tiniest baby, Madelyne Lily, a gift that we thought we would not be receiving but are so very happy that we did. Can't even imagine our lives without this one. She is as stubborn as her oldest sister yet so sensitive like her middle sister. She makes us all laugh and laugh and laugh. Oh how we love her. All of us.

This is sooooo Maddie. She ran in the other room and grabbed the mic.... I guess she thought this should be her shinning moment.... lol

Dom was standing next to me trying to make Maddie stand still for the pics... all 237 of them. Great job, Honey! I love you.

Maddie decided to give Sara some hugs during the photo shoot! lol

These were are happy memories for the day.

make sure you go and make some of your own.

xoxo

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Well, I have not been nice and have been neglecting the oh so important, blog. I have been busy trying to get all the Christmas shopping done. All the sewing projects completed (that I am giving people as gifts) So that is what I have been doing.
I have also been busy taking some photographs for a good friend who is an artist. Quite an artist. I feel honored when he asks me to photograph his work. So I thought I would show you what I have been working on, I like that his work is so against the grain of what I would consider beauty, but it is when you really look at it, the intricate detail the subtle color difference.... it is truly beautiful. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Try and look at things in a way that you never have before and try and find the beauty in it.

I happen to love the fact that you usually think of graffiti as hard and edgy with scantly clad woman and thugs..... but I think the kids in the photos add a softness to the hard edge.

The Photo Below is one of My favorites, Out of all the photos's I have ever taken in my life.... Seriously. I love it!

smashburger

Smashburger just opened in a town very close to where we live. It is the first one in NJ. Can I just say, YUM! We went there last night with our very good friend, Paul. You may have heard of him ( here on my Blog) anyway, It was a good time had by all. Very Very delicious.

My family loves me so much.... they insist that I take my camera and photograph them wherever we go. I really want to capture everyday life.... the moments that we have everyday that no one ever takes pictures of. So I charged up my little Sony Cyber Shot (and she shall be called baby) and stuck it her my pocket.... can't do that with my DSLR. (Who is I my Big grownup camera) .... also I forgot what fun video's are, and I can only take them with the baby camera. (Perhaps I have a bit to much time on my hands... actually I don't, I am just not getting the things done that I really need to. Ok I have to get my ADD brain back on track.......

Food, ah yes. so here they are in all their glorious yumminess..... ( can you tell I really like food a whole bunch)

Maddie waiting for the food... crazy haired people usually get served their food faster then most....

Em and Paul discussing Fried Pickles..... they have them there and I would suggest that everyone try them......

Sara & Paul (please Pablo try and contain your overwhelming enthusiasm )

Sara eating "the best burger she has ever tasted" BBQ BACON CHEESE burger it was good.
oh and they have very good milk shakes.

Chili Cheese Fries these came with fresh jalepenos (I am the only one that ate those) wimps ... just kidding. HOT is not even a word that I can best describe them. They were more like nacho fries to me. Good but I think the plain fries were better with the burger which I did not get a photo of... Paul was yealling at me to stop taking pictures and eat before my food got cold : ) (Harsh right...lol Paul)

Have a great day, I am going to bake my Amish Friendship Bread. The oven beeped to tell me it's all ready to go.

Enjoy your day all.

simplicity

Sometimes the simplest things hold so much beauty. A friend asked me to take some photographs of a pear and an apple. One of each and then one together. I ended up with 95 shots. I actually very much enjoyed my 90 minute photo shot with the fruit. It gave me new respect on perspective. I had fun and got some really beautiful shots for him.

He wanted all Black and white but I opted to do some color as well.

Enjoy

ahhhh delayed opening 90 extra minutes

Shan and Sara when we moved here. 2005 they were so little.

No they are big and crazy.

I was trying to take a nice picture of them, When Shan decided to dive across the couch onto Sara.....

So in turn Sara had to also dive across.....

Oh how I love a delayed opening. It is so lovely to just sit and relax (yeah right) drink an extra cup of Joe without having to rush out of the house. I am more of a "let's going at 9:00 am" kind of gal. Anyway, we had the pleasure of Shannon this morning. She and Sara had a nice morning. I sat and read thru my blogs and email and checked my Facebook (for what I'm not sure)
I am not sure where all the energy comes from. Why can't I have maybe a 1/4 of the energy??? ahh to be 10. The pictures of the little darlings above is them showing all their energy. My head is spinning.

Trust

Sometimes we just have to be silent and trust that everything is going to work out. I am normally loud and do not like to be still and silent..... So this is naturally hard for me.
I was reminded by "Oh Wise One" , my husband, (hehe) That we have to have faith and let things work themselves out. They most of the time do. Not always the way I think they should but my way is obviously not the way God wants us to live. So today I am going to (try) Be still, silent and trust that God will do the best for us.

This Photograph that I took is a perfect picture of what I am trying to say, One half of the lake has ripples and you can't see anything,
The other half is perfectly still and you can see all beauty God has for us.

Enjoy your day.

You too can make Fleece Pompoms... : )

This is dedicated to Angela.

Make fleece hats to keep your baby warm, make lots and lots and when she refuses to put them on, put them on a Teddy Bear instead. ( he won't complain)

Got one on her : ) (She left it on for exactly 3 pictures ) about 3 seconds, no joke.

And so what you've all been waiting for,
Without further ado onto the tutorial

Fleece POMPOMS made easy:

2 Ingredients:

Fleece
Rotary cutter or scissors

Yield: 1 very cute pompom

Cut a long strip of fleece; I did mine 25 " and then depending on how big you want your POMPOM that determines the width, I did mine at about 4 1/2" For a nice big pompom.
I also did some at 2 " for a tiny pompom

Fold the strip in half lengthwise.

Clip the edges within a 1/4" of the fold. (DO NOT CLIP THRU FOLD)
Clip the length of the strip.

Strip after Clipping

Roll the cut strip up like a cigar. Keeping it tight.

Tie the rolled strip tight with a long narrow piece of fleece (You could also sew it with a needle and thread but I am lazy) Pull as tight as you can.

Fluff up the finished POMPOM : )

use the narrow strip that you tied the pompom with to Sew onto hat or scarf.

WAH LAH !

Be Creative and use the Right side of your brain....

xoxo Amy
