S E W I N G - Quilting

I have been so in l o v e with sewing as of late.
I mean, I always love to sew but lately
I feel extra creative and  really
enjoying the entire process.
from picking out the fabric to
laying out or designing the pattern,

(almost feel like a designer)

maybe I missed my calling...
although I am only Thirty Something,
I probably haven't missed anything

We are supposed to design a name tag to wear at
our guild meetings...

Hello my name is...
So here is mine,
I used fabric from my stash...
It is only 4 x 3 so it is pretty small.
I am going to put a grommet into it and
and stick it on a silver chain.

This is the back.
It would be my nod to
the wonky log cabin
I LOVE my my little VW vans....

These might just be the worst photos in history....

The other thing that I made was this AMAZINGINGLY
HUGE wonky Star wall-hanging.
I saw it somewhere on Pinterest and decided I needed
to make that.
I am actually going to be entering it in the Sussex County State Fair.

(If I get it done)
I still have to back it and bind it and quilt it.
When it is complete I will get some close up shots of it.
It has a Star in a Star in a Star.
The original I saw did not have the tiny
star in the middle square.

I also Made a Quilt for my Mom and Dad for their Anniversary.
I made that in 2 days.
I planned on taking about a week,
but life happened and I needed to get it done in a hurry.

I captured the goings on with my phone...
Here I am piecing away.

Stitching on the very adorable binding...
(and if you don't know how to make your own binding,
please tell me, I would love to teach you how.)

I adore pieced backs...

So here is the back
Sorry, I should have taken it outside and hung it on the clothesline but
I was on a very tight time schedule...

The Front.
I used Cluck Cluck Sews
Stars and Stripes Quilt and made it a Throw Size

My Mom and Dad really liked it.
I was  pleased that I finished it.
and even got it quilted...
I just did a simple line quilting.

anyway, I have been busy sewing all summer,
what have you been up too?

Toweling

Who knew toweling was so stinkin' cute?

We happened upon the cutest new fabric store
it is only about 10 min from me...

(uh oh)

This store is amazing.
Amy Butler
Heather Bailey
Anna Maria Horner
Riley Blake
MODA
Michael Miller
need I say more?

I immediately knew when I walked in
that this place was going to become a special place...
Okay, those of you who LOVE and adore fabric
know exactly what I am talking about.
(to those of you who don't I suggest you go to
a fabulous small privately owned store
 and get hooked.)

any ol' who...

She had some amazing toweling by MODA.
and I fell in LOVE.

I knew that I would place it upon my table.
I bought some cute red pom pom trim
came home
ironed it and sewed the pom pom trim on
placed it on my table
and it was that easy.

I started to think about what you could make
Aprons,
place mats,
cute little cafe curtain...
the possibilities are endless.
and for 6 $ a yard,
It would be fun to change things up for summer.

Have  a great Tuesday.

burlap & fabric

I believe I may be addicted....

Burlap and Fabric Rosettes how sweet!

I was inspired by the Tatertots and Jello wreath.

I am in Love.

I purchased a green foam wreath at Michael's with my 40% off coupon.

I think it cost about four bucks.

I had left over jelly roll strips from a quilt. (a project that I still have yet to complete)

Left over burlap from the 2 yards I purchased for my lampshade.

Some Hot Glue and several burned fingers later... Voila.

Super cute.

I  decided the other day, as soon as it starts to get a little warm out I am going to paint the shutters

and the front door a deep navy blue.

My wreath is going to look lovely on it.

Birthdays

For Sara's 12th birthday, I knew that I wanted to make her a new lunch bag.

I found the sweetest pattern on

I received the fabric and the pattern in the mail today.

I began to sew like a crazy person.

Thank goodness for my beloved sister.

She had her at her house for the day.

I finished.

Just in time for her to open it before she goes to school in the morning.

By the way have I mentioned

 I

 L*O*V*E

Nicey Jane!

Love love love.

For the inside I used the

 Heather Bailey Laminated Cotton.

and here is my little Bean and I when she was only about a year.

 Man she is cute.

Makes me cry thinking how fast time is flying by.

And when I look at how wrinkle free my skin was back then.... lol

The End.

Dollie & Flannel Pants...

Wow that was a creative title...

I found the cutest blog.... with the cutest little doll. 60 piggies.

I loved making her ( I have to adjust the large size of her face)

Maddie loved her and named her Sara.. then a second later named her Maddie.

She told me she needs friends.

So, these just might be the worst pictures I have ever taken in my life...

I have one wicked wicked headache.... YAY ME.

Maddie, with her crazy bed head hair.
Oh and those are the flannel pants

that my child will not remove from her body!

I made them last week  with this tutorial,

from My Cotton Creations. As my

Child was not cooperating This is about as good as it gets.

Farmhouse Toddler Bed & Duvet

A while ago I posted that we would be attempting to make Madelyne's new bed The Farmhouse Toddler Bed by Ana White. It was done weeks ago, I just forgot to post shots of it. So we love it. The only thing we had experienced was the crib mattress that we had was bigger then the plans for the bed size.
Being that we are not a read thru the directions before you begin,  (we meaning I) , had to squeeze the mattress in.... oh well, still works.

I then found a duvet tutorial over at Prudent Baby. Awesome. She did snaps at the end, which I had in my sewing box. It was simple and went together in about 45 min. I really love this fabric! I have had my eye on this Heather Bailey Nicey Jane for ages. So glad that I decided to get this on my trip to Lancaster with Jen. It is so soft and lovely. It reminds me of Vintage sheets. anyway. I   L* O * V * E   it.  I have enough left over to make a little patchwork pillowcase just didn't get to that last night. I will...

So here is all is. The Bed. The Fabric. The Duvet & The Toddler.

yes, I realize this picture is crooked. I was not about to go retake them... Lazy.
